Overview

FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR YOUTH-LED GREEN SERVICE PROJECTS

Carmel Green Teen Micro-Grant Program offers funding for volunteer eco-friendly, green projects designed and carried out by young people in Carmel or Clay Township in Indiana.

What? Grant awards up to $1,000 are available for projects that:

  • Put the ideas and energies of young people – ages 18 and under – to work to help make Carmel / Clay Township a greener community through projects that reduce pollution, conserve natural resources, and/or save energy.
  • Are planned, developed, implemented and measured by young people with adults serving as “guides on the side.”  Additional adult guidance may be necessary for the very youngest volunteers (pre-school through grade 5).
  • Have a realistic budget and a solid plan that achieves the most benefit with the fewest dollars.
  • Have a variety of clearly defined activities and responsibilities for young people and adults
  • Have specific start and completion dates, with possible exceptions for ongoing projects which have additional sponsorship
  • Directly benefit the Carmel / Clay Township, Indiana community and not just the organization sponsoring the youth group

Who? Youth-serving agencies, schools, scout groups, religious organizations, recreation programs, community / neighborhood centers,  and other nonprofit organizations that actively engage young people in solving community problems are welcome to apply. Youth groups from surrounding areas may apply for funding, however their project must take place in Carmel/Clay Township in Indiana.   If your group is not incorporated as a nonprofit organization, the Carmel Green Teen Micro-Grant Program will help you locate a sponsor.

How? Download and follow directions on the application page.

Applications are currently being accepted through September 12, 2010.

Grants will be awarded within a month of this date.
