Recycling cubs 2015
Orchard Park Elementary Green Cubs
Orchard Park Elementary fifth graders chose to promote and facilitate event recycling at their school by purchasing five Clear Stream portable recycling collection containers as well as promotional items. They will use the containers at after school events such as Movie Night, Literacy Night, Ice Cream Social, and more. Students from the OPE Green Cubs attend the events and display posters and wear stickers that remind others to recycle.

Members of the OPE Green Cubs educated attendees at the April 2015 Literacy Night about what recyclables could be placed in the containers.
Part of the grant that the OPE Green Cubs received went to purchase these educational stickers, which the Cub's plan to wear at all future school events to promote recycling.
The OPE Green Cubs discovered that recycling takes repeated education, reminders, and often retrieval of recyclables from the regular trash can.

The OPE Green Cubs learned the importance of strategic locations for the recycling containers as well the need to educate others on recyclable items versus trash.
The "OPE Recycles" stickers serve as an educational tool as well as a reminder to both students, teachers, staff and parents to remember to recycle.
The Orchard Park Elementary Green Cubs plan to continue their use of the 5 recycling containers at future events throughout the 2015-2016 school year.
