The Carmel High School Do Something Club decided to do something environmentally friendly this year by planting four large trees at Hamilton County’s River Road Park.
The unpredictable spring weather in Indiana provided a surprise rain, but the students persevered and finished their project as planned.
Students dug the holes by hand with shovels and back filled the holes.
The CHS Do Something Club is one of the many groups inspired by DoSomething.org the country’s largest not-for-profit organization for young people and social change.
With the assistance of Hamilton County Parks specialist Dan Popiela, the students chose four hardy native Indiana trees for planting.
Next they watered the trees generously and placed water-holding mulch around the bases. To learn how to do this properly, click here.
